Privacy Policy
Updated: September 15, 2026
In short
Momenta helps one person coordinate a plan with their group of friends. To do that it needs some of your data: your name and a way to reach you and, only if you allow it, the people from your address book you choose to invite. If you choose to, you can connect your Google Calendar: Momenta then sees only when you are free or busy, never your events, and uses it to suggest dates. Every plan has a chat; while Momenta's assistance is on, the Momenta team and its systems may read that chat to help the group. Your messages may be used, anonymized, to improve Momenta; you can exclude them at any time from your profile. Momenta does not charge, process, or hold money; if the group uses shared expenses on a plan, Momenta only keeps track of what you log. You can request your data, correct it, or delete your account at any time.
About Momenta
The Platform (the Momenta app, the web page of each plan, and related services) is operated by Momenta Concierge LLC, a limited liability company organized in Delaware, USA, with its registered office at 16192 Coastal Highway, Lewes, Delaware 19958 (Momenta). Momenta is the controller of your data.
- Privacy contact: hola@momentaboutique.com
Momenta works with two kinds of people:
- Hosts: create an account in the app to coordinate plans with their group.
- Guests: respond to a plan through a web link, without necessarily downloading the app.
Important about guests. By responding to a plan through the link you accept the Terms and Conditions and this Policy. Momenta records you as a participant of that plan with the data you type (name and phone); it does not create a password-protected account in your name. If you later install the app and sign up with the same phone number, your responses move to your account. You can request access, correction, or deletion of that data at any time by writing to hola@momentaboutique.com.
Changes to this Policy
Momenta reviews this Policy periodically. When there is an important change, it will do its best to notify you in advance. Keep your data up to date in your profile.
What data do we collect, and what for?
In short: Momenta collects what it needs to coordinate your plans and, only with your permission, the people from your address book you invite. It does not charge, process, or hold payments.
Momenta collects data at different moments:
- From the host, at sign-up: name; email and password (if you sign up with email) or the email Google or Apple share (if you use Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple); phone; city; date of birth (optional, so your friends can plan something for you); profile photo (optional).
- From a guest, when responding to a plan through the link: name and phone.
- Data Momenta receives from other people: if a host invites someone from their contacts, Momenta receives that person's name and phone even though they did not provide it directly. It is used only to send the invitation and coordinate the plan.
- Phone contacts (with your permission): so the host can choose who to invite from their list. The search happens on your phone; Momenta only receives the people you actually invite, not your whole address book.
- What you share in a plan: the plan's title, description, cover, and sections; and in the chat, your messages, photos, videos, and voice notes.
- The plan's shared expenses (only if the group uses them): the description and amount of each expense someone logs, who paid it, who it is split between, the transfers someone marks as paid, and the balances Momenta computes from all of it. This information is visible to the people on that plan and, like the chat, to the Momenta team. Momenta does not charge, process, hold, or move that money: the payment happens outside Momenta (see the Terms and Conditions).
- Your city, suggested once from your IP: when you create your account, Momenta uses your IP address a single time to suggest your city (through the ipwho.is service). It stores the city you confirm, not your IP.
- Notification token: if you accept notifications, an identifier of your device so we can deliver them.
- Third-party sign-in (Google or Apple): Momenta receives the information your settings allow (name, email, photo).
- Your calendar availability (optional, only if you connect it): from Profile → Calendar, at sign-up, or when you create a plan, you can connect your Google Calendar. Momenta asks Google for a single permission — to see when you are free or busy — and never receives the title, guests, place, or content of your events. Momenta stores the permission Google grants (an access token) and the address of the connected Google account, and consults your availability only to help your group find a date that works. Connecting is never required to create or join a plan. You can disconnect at any time from Profile → Calendar: Momenta revokes the permission at Google and deletes the token. Deleting your account revokes it too. Momenta's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- Usage data: how you interact with the app (screens, actions), to understand usage and improve the product. Collected with Mixpanel, with no advertising identifiers. Momenta may record app usage sessions with text and images masked, to understand usability problems.
- Errors and crashes: if the app fails, a technical report (device model, version, where it failed, and your account identifier) is sent to Sentry so it can be fixed.
- When you write to us or send feedback: your name, contact details, and the content of your message.
Momenta uses this data to: create and maintain your account; coordinate plans (invitations, responses, date polls); keep the shared-expenses ledger of a plan and compute its balances and suggested transfers; operate the chat and the assistance; send you notifications about what happens in your plan (who accepted, who wrote) and reminders; suggest dates from the availability you chose to share; understand usage and improve the product; support you; and comply with the law.
Legal basis (GDPR/UK). Momenta processes your data on the basis of the performance of the service you requested, your consent (contacts, notifications, your calendar availability, and, unless you turn it off, the use of your messages to improve Momenta), and its legitimate interest in operating, protecting, and improving the app.
The chat and Momenta's assistance
We are very clear here because it touches your privacy.
How it works. Every plan has a group chat. Momenta's assistance is on by default. While it is on, the chat content is accessible to Momenta — its team and its automated systems — in order to understand the plan's context, respond to requests, and help coordinate. Today the human team responds; progressively, automated systems will respond too.
You can turn the assistance off. Anyone in the chat (host or guest) can turn it off at any time from the chat itself. When it is off, Momenta stops using that chat to assist and does not respond to requests in it.
What can and cannot be promised when it is off. Even though Momenta stops using the chat to assist, messages remain stored on Momenta's infrastructure and there is no end-to-end encryption. That is why Momenta cannot claim that no one will ever be able to access them. Access is limited to exceptional cases: when you request support and it requires reviewing them; when someone reports a message; for security or to investigate abuse; or when the law requires Momenta to hand them over.
Reporting and blocking
You can report from two places: press and hold a message in the chat and choose Report, or open the ••• menu next to a person in the attendee list. The report reaches the Momenta team with the content and who wrote it; the reported person is not notified. Momenta reviews every report and acts within 24 hours: removing content, removing a person from a plan, or suspending accounts. You can also write to us at hola@momentaboutique.com.
From that same ••• menu you can block anyone with an account. A block is stored as a relationship between the two accounts and is used to stop showing you their messages across all of your plans, and yours to them. Nobody is notified — not the blocked person, not the host — and blocking does not remove them from the plan. You can unblock from the same menu, which deletes that relationship.
Using your messages to improve Momenta
Momenta may use the messages you write in the chat to train and improve its artificial intelligence models, with these safeguards:
- Training happens on anonymized data: personal identifiers are removed before use.
- You can exclude your content whenever you want from Profile → Privacy → "Help improve Momenta" (the option is on by default), or by writing to hola@momentaboutique.com.
- Momenta asks you not to share sensitive data in the chat and does not use that kind of data to improve its models.
Today Momenta does not train models with messages; the option exists for the day it does, and only the messages of people who have it on at that time will be used.
SMS / text messages
In short: Momenta only texts you about a plan you were invited to. It never sends marketing text messages, and it never shares your opt-in data.
What messages you receive. When a host adds your phone number to a plan, Momenta may send that number an SMS with the invitation — the host's name, the plan's title, and the link to see it and RSVP — and occasional messages about that same plan (a change of date or place, a reminder). Momenta does not send marketing or promotional text messages, and does not text numbers that were not added to a plan.
How often. Message frequency varies and depends on the plans you are invited to.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply.
How to stop them. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for help or contact hola@momentaboutique.com. After a STOP, Momenta stops texting that number; a plan link you already received keeps working.
Your opt-in data. Mobile opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Momenta uses Twilio only as the provider that delivers the message on its behalf: it acts as a processor, which is not a sale of your data nor a sharing of it for marketing.
Who do we share your data with?
In short: Momenta does not sell your data. It only shares it with providers that help it run the app, and with authorities when the law requires it.
| Provider | What for | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Hetzner | Servers and database of the Platform | Finland (EU) |
| Amazon Web Services (S3) | Storing the files you upload: photos, videos, voice notes, profile photo | USA |
| Google Sign-In; Google Calendar (free/busy availability only, if you connect it) | USA | |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple; notification delivery (APNs) | USA |
| Expo | Sending push notifications to your device | USA |
| Mixpanel | Product usage analytics | USA |
| Sentry | App error and crash reports | USA |
| ipwho.is | Suggesting your city from your IP, once at sign-up | — |
| Resend | Internal email alerts to the Momenta team (plan title, host name, city, the text of a request or report, and a summary of the plan's activity) and the welcome email to whoever joins the waitlist (their email address) | USA |
| Twilio | Invitation SMS, where that feature is active in your country | USA |
Momenta may disclose aggregated, anonymous information (which does not identify you) to improve the Platform, and signs the corresponding data processing agreement with each provider.
All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. The providers that deliver a message on Momenta's behalf (Twilio) act only as processors and never receive that data for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
Do we transfer your data internationally?
In short: Yes, and Momenta uses the legal mechanisms to protect it.
The Platform's servers and database are in the European Union (Hetzner, Finland). The files you upload are stored on Amazon Web Services in the USA, and Momenta Concierge LLC and several providers (Google, Apple, Expo, Mixpanel, Sentry, Twilio) are also in the USA. That is why certain data is transferred to the USA. For transfers from the United Kingdom and the EU, Momenta relies on the mechanisms the law requires, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the UK Addendum/IDTA; for transfers from Colombia, it complies with the requirements of Law 1581 of 2012.
How do we keep your information secure?
Momenta uses reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and access limited to those who need it to operate the Platform. As explained, the chat has no end-to-end encryption. No system is infallible.
Cookies
The app does not use cookies. A plan's web page (app.momentaboutique.com/p/…) uses no analytics or advertising cookies: it stores a participant identifier in your browser, strictly necessary to remember your response, and records usage events in Mixpanel from the server. The website www.momentaboutique.com uses analytics and marketing cookies with its own consent banner. Details are in the Cookie Policy.
Third-party sites and services
The Platform coexists with third-party services (Google, Apple, WhatsApp, external payment apps). Momenta does not control those services and is not responsible for their privacy practices; review their policies.
How long do we keep your information?
Momenta keeps your data for as long as necessary for the purposes of this Policy and to comply with the law; then it deletes or anonymizes it. As a reference:
- Account and profile: while the account is active. When you delete it, your personal data is removed immediately; it may remain in backups for up to 30 days.
- Chat messages: while the plan exists. When you delete your account, your messages stay in the chat without your name (they appear as from a "Deleted user") so the rest of the conversation is not broken.
- Contacts: Momenta keeps the data of the people actually invited as part of the plan, not your address book.
- Shared expenses: while the plan exists, like chat messages. If someone deletes an expense or undoes a transfer, the entry stops counting towards the balances; a record of the change stays in the plan's activity log, which the Momenta team can see.
- Calendar permission: until you disconnect it from Profile → Calendar or delete your account. Momenta never stores your events; free/busy availability is consulted when needed and not kept.
- Date of birth: while the account is active; you can clear it from Profile → Your info at any time.
- Feedback and support: up to 24 months, or until you ask us to delete it.
- Usage data (Mixpanel): up to 24 months.
- Error reports (Sentry): 90 days.
How to delete your account
You can delete your account and your data directly from the app, in Profile → Delete account. If you signed up with email you confirm your password; if you signed in with Google or Apple, you confirm on screen. When you delete your account: your personal data is removed; the permission to see your Google Calendar availability, if you connected it, is revoked at Google; the plans you created pass to the longest-standing participant so the group does not lose them; your messages are anonymized as explained above; and only what the law requires is kept.
If you responded to a plan through the link and do not have an account in the app, write to hola@momentaboutique.com and we will delete your data.
Do we collect data from minors?
Momenta is for people aged 18 and over (or the age of majority in your country if higher). Momenta does not knowingly collect data from minors; if it detects a minor's account, it deactivates it and deletes the data.
What are your privacy rights?
- United Kingdom / Europe (GDPR): access, correct, delete, restrict or object, port your data, and withdraw your consent. Complaints to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
- California (CCPA/CPRA): know what is collected, request deletion and correction, and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Momenta does not sell your data or share it for advertising purposes from the app.
- Colombia (Law 1581 of 2012): know, update, rectify, delete, revoke authorization, and request proof of it. Complaints to the SIC.
- Mexico (LFPDPPP): ARCO rights (access, rectification, cancellation, opposition). Authority: INAI.
To exercise any of them, write to hola@momentaboutique.com.
